Sleek Monochrome for Fall Courtesy of Givenchy Men's RTW

Jan 30, 2013  |   Contributor: Annalisa Solari

Givenchy’s talented luxury designer, Riccardo Tisci, is perhaps best known to the general public for his ferocious graphics. Last season, for example, his angry dog T-shirt was worn by a multitude of celebrities and subsequently found scattered all throughout the blogosphere. While this season’s menswear collection for fall still features interesting graphics, they are far less "rabid dog" and much more religious and reminiscent of Latin culture.... Read More

Chanel Enchants With Spring Couture Collection

Jan 29, 2013  |   Contributor: Nicolle Keogh

If ever there were an enchanted forest in real life, it was the one seen at last week’s Chanel show held at the Grand Palais in Paris, at which designer Karl Lagerfeld presented his Couture collection for the luxury brand. Actual trees and shrubbery were shipped in one-by-one to the venue at which Lagerfeld has presented in the past. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was apparently the inspiration for the show, and the actual collection is just as fascinating as the set itself.... Burberry Gone Wild | Fall/Winter RTW Debuts in Milan

Jan 25, 2013  |   Contributor: Tina Stewart

Burberry opened its autumn/ winter RTW show at Milan’s fashion week to the awakening sound of cathedral church bells against a darkened city-scape background — London of course. Are they heralding something new and exciting? Most likely, because Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Director of Burberry since 2009, has been revamping the brand significantly during his tenure — modernizing the heritage classic, and ushering it into the technological age.... Raf Simons Goes Green for Dior Spring Couture

Jan 25, 2013  |   Contributor: Annalisa Solari  |  1 Comment

Have you ever really stopped to think about the presentation of plants? Well, probably not, but not everyone thinks in the same fashion as the luxury designer of top design house Dior, Raf Simons. As Simons so shrewdly noted, there is a major difference between mere flora and manicured gardens. This distinction led the designer to allow artificial colors and nature-inspired shapes appear throughout the collection with a show premise that was said by Simons to be inspired by “the very idea of spring.”... Chanel Exhibit Celebrates Designer's Involvement in the Arts

Jan 15, 2013  |   Contributor: Nicolle Keogh

A new exhibit that celebrates the work of luxury fashion maven Gabrielle Chanel at China's Guangzhou Opera House is unlike the label's Beijing and Shanghai exhibits in the same country. While the latter two take a biographical approach to commemorate the iconic designer, the new exhibit, which will run today through March 3, is thematically based on a ballet called Le Train Bleu, for which Chanel designed the costumes. The display is meant to showcase the designer's modern lifestyle and involvement in the arts by featuring 400 pieces, including Chanel jewelry and apparel— both new and old— as well as sketches, books, and manuscripts from other artists and writers and accompanying photos and videos of Chanel and her friends.... A Modern Take on Classic Americana for Spring by Ralph Lauren

Jan 14, 2013  |   Contributor: Nicolle Keogh

When it comes to luxury menswear, there’s one label that the gents can rely on from season to season for an all-American look from head-to-toe. Ralph Lauren has been doing just that each season, and without fail, for the past several decades. As is typical of the brand, preppy pastels and patterns are plentiful in the upcoming spring collection, but the New York-based designer manages to come up with something new by providing a hint of Native American print and giving a generous nod to the most underappreciated neutral of them all: brown.... It has not yet been confirmed, but it is understood by the fashion community that family members will not be in attendance of Sunday's show, as 385 search-and-rescue specialists, including the Venezuelan authorities as well as naval and flight experts from Italy, continue searching for Missoni, his wife, their two guests and the pilot who were in the plane....
