While many may see either task incredibly daunting and painful, thanks to design-builder of Long Island's South Fork Jeffrey Collé, they don't have to be.... Read More

The BELLA Juicer: Cold-Pressing Like a Pro

Jan 30, 2013  |   Contributor: Tina Stewart

Last summer, while visiting a popular juice bar in NYC, I noticed a selection of cold-pressed juices. Fairly up-to-date with juicing and raw food trends, the term ‘cold-pressed’ was something new to me. Believing it to mean either a simple, but hyped-up city fad, like moving the juicing station to the walk-in refrigerator, or requiring a ridiculously expensive piece of machinery, I chalked it up to an only-in-NY moment.... Breguet's Tourbillon Watch Exhibit Celebrates Cenutries of Horological History

Jan 24, 2013  |   Contributor: Tina Stewart

Legendary horologist and founder of luxury watch company Breguet, Abraham-Louis Breguet made timekeeping history in 1801 with the invention of a much-needed, but highly complex watch mechanism. Seeing the adverse effect gravity had on reliable timekeeping, he created the tourbillon— an escapement housed within a mobile carriage that performs a complete rotation every couple of minutes. Basically, the regular repetition of the tourbillon’s variations offsets those made by gravity. It was a tough assignment for Bregeut to pull off, as it requires a certain durability while nonetheless maintaining its light weight.... Read More
