The 46-story, New York Baccarat Hotel & Residences will open in New York City in 2014. The new luxury brand is a partnership between Starwood
Capital and NY-based real estate development company Tribeca Associates. The new upscale hotel’s location is just off Fifth Avenue at 20 West 53rd. The Baccarat Hotel & Residences will have 114 guestrooms, including 26 suites. Additionally, there will be luxury residences with full access to the hotel’s amenities. Viking Ocean Cruises and ocean cruise ship builder Fincantieri have reached an agreement for the construction of two cruise ships. The signing of the deal is imminent, according to a statement issued by Viking. Late 2014 is the delivery date of the first ship. The delivery of the second ship is set for the same time in 2015. There is also an option for a third vessel to be added to the contract. Each of the new ocean cruise ships will accommodate 998 passengers with 499 cabins. Celebrity Cruises has obtained the rights to broadcast the 2012 Olympic games from London live onboard its fleet of luxury cruisers. From the opening to the closing ceremonies of the XXX Olympiad, July 27 to August 12, the 26 sports events of the summer games will air. Additionally, there also will be rebroadcasts of the events at more convenient times available as well. The Olympic competions or events will be viewable in staterooms and suites as well as the bar and lounge areas of the ships. The exact broadcast times of specific events will be listed in Celebrity ships’ daily newsletter. There is one exception.
