The 2011 Starz Denver Film Festival is the largest of its kind in the region. Inviting A-listers and newbie filmakers alike, the red carpet is hopping in the Mile High City. Last year’s notables being Rabbit Hole, starring Nicole Kidman and directed by John Cameron Mitchell, and Casino Jack, starring Kevin Spacey. Mutterings of a George Clooney appearance in Denver are running rampant, as The Descendants star directed by Alexander Payne is included in this year’s films.
Cinefiles throughout the region are excited for this blockbusting event. Since 1978 the Denver Film Society has elevated the art form of film making, promoting year-round events and special screenings. The 11-day roster of international screenings certainly has the town abuzz, with celebrities, internationally recognized directors and producers, and fresh new faces that very well may be the next big thing all converging in the Centennial State.
Running from November 2nd to 13th, awards presented by the Anna and John Sie Foundation, as well as special screenings, a tribute to victims and survivors of the 2011 tsunami, and actors/directors workshops make Denver the place to be.
