Personal

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to own a ridiculously luxurious pool? If you’re interested in constructing your own pool but aren’t sure are the design or style of pool that you would like, here are 5 of the most luxurious and expensive swimming pools from around the world. If these pools don’t inspire you, nothing can!

The Rooftop Pool – InterContinental, Hong Kong

As to be expected of one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, the Intercontinental hotel in Hong Kong is not only one of the most popular hotels, but also one of the most expensive hotels in the world. The Presidential Suite at the InterContinental hotel is reserved at $13, 715 per night and hosts one of the most sought after Japanese restaurants, the Nobu. The Nobu was designed by Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa in 1973 but only became based in the InterContinental as recently as 2006.

The Indoor Pool - Crown Towers, Macau

The Crown Towers hotel on the island of Taipa in Macau hosts one of the most spectacular indoor pools and offers an unrivalled view of the Macau Peninsula. The Crown Towers is a 38 storey complex dedicated to providing its guests with the best and most pleasurable experience.

The Crown Towers in Macau were designed by the magnificent Peter Remédios and feature 216 guest rooms with 24 deluxe sweets and 8 magnificent villas. This particular hotel was awarded 5 stars by the Forbes Travel Guide from 2010 – 2013, which is no surprise considering the range of facilities available at this hotel.

The Outdoor Pool - Huvafen Fushi Resort, Maldives

The term ‘Huvafen Fushi’ means dream island; which is a perfect description for this beautiful resort in the Maldives. Although this resort is commended for its many facilities, including snorkelling, spa treatments and shopping; one of its best features is the food.

The quality of the food at Huvafen Fushi is unforgettable as it seduces all of the senses, although this doesn’t make it a clear winner as this resort is also home to the world’s first underwater spa.

The Basement Pool – Park Avenue, Wimbledon

The basement pool that has been constructed at Park Avenue in Wimbledon is a unique pool that has been specifically designed for this house by a company that focuses on interior design and architecture, called Fabric Space.

Fabric Space is a company that was founded by three individuals, each of them bringing their own unique set of skills to the team. The three main aspects of Fabric Space designs are interior design, architecture and urban regeneration. Fabric Space utilise these skills to develop a liveable space that feels light and spacious whilst encouraging physical activity and relaxation.

The One – Kempinski Spa, Indonesia

The Kempinski Spa in Indonesia has one of the most resplendent swimming pools that I have ever laid eyes upon. The pool is not only situated on the very roof of the hotel, but it also affords the most breath taking view of the city of Jakarta and its wonderful skyline.

The Kempinski Spa in Jakarta claim to be wholeheartedly focused on giving their guests the best experience possible, which is believable when you take into account the size and splendour of the rooftop pool and the other amenities that are made available to guests.

The number of exotic hotels and luxurious pools that you could tempt yourself with is endless, which means that trying them all is not possible. It’s because of this scenario that you should consider designing or constructing your own perfect pool; possessing your own pool also means that you can practice low-impact exercises within the privacy of your own home.
