Vietnam is mostly known for its beautiful landscapes, beaches and traditional places that have been attracting many tourists from both national and international countries every year. Here we will be discussing the five places of Vietnam that has been identified as world heritage sites.

 

Hue Mountains:

The first site of Vietnam that had been chosen as a world heritage site by UNESCO is the complex of Hue Mountains. This is located in the central city of Vietnam, Hue. The site is recognized as the world heritage site not because of its rich culture, political and religious values, but for the complex which was built during the nineteenth and twentieth century. The complex which was built by the Nguyen Dynasty is famous for its classy structure and architecture which shows the five key points: east, west, south, north and center; the five supreme natural elements: metal, water, wood, fire and earth; and the five ultimate colors: white, black, blue, red and yellow.

 

Hay Long Bay:

This bay is located in the Quang Ninh province, in the “Gulf of Tonkin”. This site has received many awards of honor and has also received the world heritage site title from UNESCO in the year 1994 and 2000. The site comprises of total sixteen hundred islands from which nine hundred and eighty islands have already been named. Most of these islands are yet to be affected by the humans.

 

Ancient Town of Hoi An:

This ancient town of Vietnam has been recognized as the perfect example of well-conserved trading port of Southeast Asia. This port was used for trading between fifteenth and nineteenth century. The site consists of buildings that have an exclusive combination of foreign and local influences. This was identified as the world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1999.

 

This old town has also been voted the number one tourism city by a renowned tourism magazine of United Kingdom.

 

My Son Sanctuary:

These clusters of towers were constructed over 10 successive centuries. This site used to be the heart of the Champa Kingdom. The structure was build between the fourth and thirteenth century. My Son relic is located in the central part of the Quang province of Vietnam. UNESCO identified it as the world heritage site in the year of 1999.

 

The most important part of this sanctuary is the tower.  The tower was built at the time of My Son civilization. The tower is made with fired bricks and is also ornamented with bas-reliefs made of sandstones which depict the scenes from Hindu Mythology.

 

Phong Nha:

This national park is located in the between the mountain ranges of Annamite, in the central portion of the Quang Binh province of Vietnam. In the year 2003, UNESCO gave the title of world heritage site to this national park of Vietnam. The total area of this park is about 85,754 hectares. The other thinks to explore in this park is the caves and its aquatic and territorial habitats. This place also has the Son Doong cave, which is known as the largest cave in the world.
