As you drive from Cape Town out into the surrounding countryside and Winelands area, you will discover the quaint town of Robertson, where a new building of steel and stone welcomes you to the valley. The structure rises out to greet anyone embarking on the wine route that encompasses not only Robertson, but also Montagu and McGregor, and it’s a symbol of the innovation that is taking over the South African wine industry. This is the home of Four Cousins, but inside it’s not all about wine!

Step through the doors and into a timeline through history. Go on a journey with the four cousins that run the farm and the family story that is the driving force behind the now-iconic South African brand. In the tasting room, allow yourself to indulge in one of the magnificent pairings on offer—from whiskey, to bubbly, wine slushies, olive oil and crème liquer, you will discover there is so much more on offer than just wine! There is even something for the little ones to enjoy with a non-alcoholic pairing that is perfect for the kids or your designated driver.

For beer lovers, Boet Beer is brewed on site and the copper fermenting tanks stand glistening behind a bar that is the centerpiece of the Four Cousins restaurant. The beer master is a man of innovation and a passion for the craft that can be tasted in each of the five varieties on offer. If you are lucky, you might even be able to pair one of his special one-of-a-kind inventions with your meal at the restaurant.

The restaurant itself is the perfect place to line the stomach for the day’s wine adventures with wood-fired pizzas, delicious steaks and the most decedent of desserts on offer. In keeping with the family ethos of Four Cousins, you are welcome to bring everyone along. As you dine and wine (or sip on beer, or cider, or crème liquer) on the comfortable couches, your children can chase chickens, climb trees and ride tractors. In fact there is so much to do, and too much to taste, that you may never want to leave!
