Alternative Winter Breaks Suitable For A Family Holiday
By: Jhon Dep   |    Posted on January 28, 2013   |   0 Comments (0) (0)

Dubai is well known as the perfect holiday destination for those in search of sun, sand and shopping. What you may not know is that it is also the perfect destination for those in search of a scrum! We take a look at Dubai as a winter destination for rugby enthusiasts.

Winter Sun
Dubai is the ideal escape from dreary winter weather. From December to March temperatures are around 70 degrees Fahrenheit meaning it is warm enough to enjoy the pristine Jumeirah beaches, but not so hot that you are desperate for air conditioning at every opportunity.

Hotels are geared up for families with all the big chains offering kid's clubs, entertainment, activities and meal deals. For those who want more than just a beach holiday, a dedicated sports tour offered by the likes of Gullivers Travel, is the perfect opportunity to take in a major sporting event such as the Rugby Sevens.

Home Of The Sevens
Dubai likes to do everything bigger and better than its competitors so it is no surprise to learn that the Sevens World Series is played in a purpose-built, seven-pitch stadium located just 25 minutes from the centre of the city. A Gullivers Travel sports tour includes all transfers and is fully escorted by a dedicated tour manager.

With a capacity of over 40,000, the atmosphere at the stadium is fantastic for this three-day event. With thousands of expatriates living in Dubai, support for all the competitors is guaranteed from this truly international fan base.

Don't Miss
When the excitement of the tournament is over, there is still plenty to keep families entertained. Aside from the many beaches there is the Wild Wadi Water Park where one entrance fee provides you with unlimited access to all rides and attractions.

Dubai is home to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa that cuts a striking presence in the heart of the commercial district. A visit to the top is a must to admire the stunning views and catch a glimpse of the famous 'World' development of islands lying off the coast.

At night take in the dancing fountains in the lagoon surrounding Burj Khalifa as you dine outside and make the most of the warm evenings.

Adrenaline Fix
If you are still in need of some excitement, a desert safari is a great opportunity to take in the mountain and desert scenery. An afternoon of dune bashing followed by a camel ride and desert barbecue is the perfect way to enjoy this terrain. Alternatively, take a hot air balloon at dawn to see the desert in all its glory.

Shop 'Til You Drop
No trip to Dubai is complete without some serious retail therapy. Whether it is high-end luxury brands in the Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall or haggling for gold and diamonds in the souqs, you will find ample opportunities to spend, spend, spend.

In Summary
Dubai is an excellent winter destination for a family holiday and if anything, you will struggle to experience everything it has to offer. A sports tour is a great way to indulge a family passion in a holiday that will delight everyone and create memories that last a lifetime.
