Although summer in Australia is behind us, we are talking to girls around the globe to get input on some of the latest beach beauty trends. Many women emphasize the importance of an all-natural look when heading to the beach, but your look is really is all about how you do your makeup. Deciding on the ideal cosmetics for the seaside is difficult, but not impossible, so check out the following tips on what is and isn’t beach appropriate this season.

Prepare your skin

Before even discussing the summer essentials for your makeup kit, ensure that your skin is sun-ready. If your tan is still fair and hardly ready for prolonged sun exposure, don’t even think about leaving the house without sunscreen on. On the other hand, if you like to start your summer season with a more intense tan, look up to our famous beauty blogger Vanessa Roberts, who chose the St Tropez Body Polisher. Without causing any damage to your skin at all, you can expect to have a flawless skin tone to help you rock that two-piece bikini.

 Foundation

One of the greatest fears girls have when hitting the beach without any makeup on is that their blemishes will be revealed. Don’t worry girls! With the right kind of foundation you will not have to hide your face underneath oversized sunglasses all summer long. Just remember never rub it directly on your face. Instead, place the liquid on your fingers first and then gently tap it on your skin.

Powder

Powder is definitely not the smartest choice when you're looking to spend an entire day in the sun. However, you never know where the evening might take you, so keep it in your beach bag just in case. To perfect your evening look, remove the sweat and excess oil that has accumulated during the day by dabbing a bit of pressed powder on your t-zone.

Bronzer

Bronzer is another definite no-no for the beach. When the sun, sand and salt from the sea join forces, it is inevitably going to wash off. Unfortunately, not all of it is going to go, so you’ll end up with a somewhat muddy-looking face. Instead, refer back to our second item on the list and opt for a waterproof foundation a few shades darker than your skin tone.

Eyebrows

Fuller, Cara Delevingne-style eyebrows have been a hit for several season now, and girls all over the world are looking for solutions to keep them beach perfect. For a summer look, choose a brow pencil a shade lighter than the one you usually use. After filling them, apply clear gel both to the eyebrows and the skin beneath them to ensure that the color doesn’t smear from the water or your sweat.

Lips

Red lipstick is taboo for a daytime look in general—let alone the beach—but that doesn’t mean you should avoid putting lipstick on altogether. When choosing a lipstick, decide on a shade that matches your natural lip color. This is a long-lasting option that guarantees a perfect natural look for all those beach selfies.

Mascara

Finally, like a cherry on the top of the ideally decorated cake, choose your mascara. A waterproof one, preferably. What makes mascara so popular with all the beach divas is the fact that it is basically invisible, but still manages to elevate your entire look with a few quick sweeps on the lashes.

Have we managed to debunk the age old myth that makeup is not supposed to be worn on the beach? Why not try it out and see for yourself!
