Celebrity photoshops

Tyra Banks

Wire

We are living in an age of computer manipulated imagery - it's everywhere - movies, television, and print.  A recent article at examiner.com on the Photoshop-ing of celebrity images both facinated and disgusted me.  It's absolutely atrocious that young girls and boys will grow up thinking that both men and women should attain this unattainable level of beauty and physical perfection.  We're setting our youth up for serious failure, body image issues, eating disorders, and plastic surgery addiction.  If Tyra Banks, as gorgeous as she is, needs some Photoshop work, well then I'd hate so see what they would have to do to me.  It's sending the message to people, all ages, that their looks and bodies are not okay as they are.  This is very sad.

Celebrities tend to be beautiful but did you know many of those glamorous photographs are photo shopped. Photo shopping people’s pictures is a lucrative part of the industry. After all, celebrities and models are expected to look surreal and beautiful.

Not all celebrities, very few in fact, are picture perfect. The digital nip and tuck can fix flaws, move or remove limbs, tighten that waistline, smooth out those hips and generally turn the person into a glamour goddess.
