Neighborhood Venues to Host More Than 80 Performances Citywide June 1-10

The annual, highly popular Jazz in the 'Hoods performance series will once again bring jazz to almost every Washington, D.C. neighborhood during the 8th annual DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) from June 1-10.  Presented by Events DC, Jazz in the 'Hoods features more than 80 performances spread out over 10 days at more than 50 museums, clubs, restaurants, hotels, and galleries across the city.

"The Jazz in the 'Hoods performance series is the perfect opportunity to experience great jazz in some of D.C.'s favorite hangouts as well as new venues," said Erik A. Moses, managing director of the Events DC Sports and Entertainment Division. "Our partnership with DCJF is intended to bring this quintessential American music form to everyone throughout the city - whether a novice, jazz enthusiast or somewhere in-between."

With a variety of free and ticketed performances held in 21 neighborhoods, including Adams Morgan, Capitol Hill, Chinatown, Downtown, Dupont Circle, Foggy Bottom, Georgetown, the H Street Corridor, Southeast, Southwest, Takoma Park, the U Street Corridor and Woodley Park, Jazz in the 'Hoods annually attracts a large and diverse audience of jazz enthusiasts, residents, and out-of-town visitors. Participating venue partners include Atlas Performing Arts CenterBohemian CavernsGallery O on HThe HamiltonHoward TheatreSixth & I Historic Synagogue, and Twins Jazz, among others.

Jazz in the 'Hoods brings the excitement and atmosphere of larger festival activities to more intimate local establishments," said DC Jazz Festival Executive Producer Charles Fishman. "We are grateful that our venue partners and Events DC help make jazz accessible to all residents and visitors of the city."

As part of Jazz in the 'Hoods, the Anat Cohen Quartet will take the stage at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue on June 7 to showcase modern and traditional jazz, classical music, Brazilian choro, Argentine tango, and an expansive timeline of Afro-Cuban styles. Purchase tickets.
