Remember those times when vacation meant watching sunrise together, having romantic dinners, hiking all day and going crazy at rock concerts? Now, when children came to the picture it is much harder to imagine having the same kind of vacation. Nevertheless, kids shouldn’t be the reason why you spend less time as a couple, especially on a vacation. To find a balance between your romantic life and being parents we created a list of top tips that should help.

·         Kids’ clubs. Look for resorts that have special kids’ clubs, this way you will save yourself a morning or even the whole day. Usually such clubs offer a variety of activities where children learn to swim, dance, study and play with kids their own age. There are also hotels that offer “kid’s night out” which includes pizza style party with music, and a campfire. Such nights out usually last from 2-4 hours which will be enough to take a long walk on a sand beach or try something new and romantic.

·         Parents specials. Many hotels offer so-called parents specials that include romantic dinner with champagne and strawberries, large pool accompanied with live music and many more romantic activities. The drawing card of such specials is that your children will be staying with a free babysitter or be staying at a night camp, so you can enjoy the time of your life with your partner.

·         Cell Phone Monitoring. If your kids are old enough, you may want to let them go explore the resort on their own. The important aspect is to keep them in sight; not literally of course, you can use cell phone monitoring to keep updated on your kids activity. You can use built-in tracking or go for a more robust app like Pumpic that lets you see their real-time GPS location, send SMS commands and monitor their online activity while enjoying your vacation.

·         Parent’s day. Set a routine of a parent’s day while travelling with kids. There is no harm in spending some time apart from your children; they should understand that mom and dad need some time too. Create a balance between going to the water park and sightseeing new cities.

·         Find other married couples. There is nothing better than finding married friends with kids on a vacation. If your kids are of the same age, they will keep themselves busy while you can enjoy a great company of new or old friends together. Visit family friendly restaurant where all kids can hang out together and order a separate table nearby. This way you will kill two birds with one stone: keep your children safe and enjoy your time.

·         Travel in the off-season. Even if you are tired of cold weather, going to snowy places like Montreal during a winter can be a great idea. Ski, skate and play in the snow during the day and when your kids crash into bed open a nice bottle of champagne and enjoy it with your husband or wife next to a warm in-room fireplace.

Hope these tips will help you find romance while travelling with kids, if you have any other suggestions how to find balance between being parents and a couple, please share in comments.
