Fit Tech is Taking Indoor Cycling Beyond the Studio in 2016

Mobile apps have become a major part of how we get fit. Apps for personal training, running, yoga, and many other activities have become commonplace. Only recently, however, has indoor cycling joined the mobile scene and in 2016, the stage is set for this new category to stand out as a major player.

The popularity of studio cycling classes is at an all-time high, but most people don’t realize that brick and mortar studios are no longer the only way to get a quality indoor cycling experience. There are now mobile apps that offer convenient, on-demand access to guided classes taught by top instructors and packed with all your favorite music. Having your cycling class delivered via your phone or tablet also offers a host of additional benefits that go beyond mere convenience. Many of today’s apps allow you to sync up your class with gadgets like Bluetooth heart rate monitors and bike power meters. By integrating with Apple Health and Google Fit, they also allow you to track and store your workout metrics with ease and pass them on to other popular tracking apps like MyFitnessPal.

With all that indoor cycling apps can offer, it’s no wonder that people are looking to extend their cycling experience into the digital space. Look for this trend to continue beyond 2016. As technology advances and starts blurring the lines between physical and digital, you can bet that guided fitness classes will be delivered digitally with increasing effectiveness, whenever and wherever we want them.
