Four Great Ways To Keep Warm This Winter

With the announcement of the 11% price rise in gas and electricity this winter, it is of course important to cut back and save as much money as possible.

The problem that most of us face however, as human beings, is that we like to stay warm; especially when the winter weather looms.

With the £120 average that has just been added to our bills, it is important that we therefore start preparing as soon as possible, and with that in mind here are five tips and ideas to keep yourself warm this winter!

Layer Your Clothing

Though this may sound obvious, one of the main things that people fail whilst trying to keep warm is to actually layer their clothing. Though this was far more fashionable in the early 90s’, depending on what type of clothing you wear (large fuzzy socks for example), you can also make it fun! Also, there’s nothing wrong with snuggling up in a perfectly warm blanket to the television. If this doesn’t satisfy your chilly feet however, a lovely hot water bottle can be bought for as little as £4 online!

Get the Right Bedding

Where most people fall short in heating matters is that they leave the heating on once that they have gone to bed. If however you have the right duvet, such as one that is designed for all seasons of the year, you can afford to keep your thermostat down. Not only that but you will actually save money later on when you don’t have to by a finer duvet when the summer arrives. You can also buy Goose Down filling from companies such as Yorkshire Linen; giving you the warmest sleep from the lightest of duvet fillings.

Invest in a dehumidifier

Unknown to many is the fact air containing large amounts of moisture in it is much harder to heat.

This case is signified when the walls of a room contain large amounts of condensation; caused by the air cooling the interior of the walls.

Although getting rid of steam cooking would be one great way for aiding the moisture levels of your kitchen, a dehumidifier will suck in the moist air, dry it and expel the heated result, with an eventually raised room temperature of around 2-5 degrees.

Exercise a little!

Though exercise can be a little tedious for some, it is however an excellent way of heating your body. Not only will you be getting fitter via your favourite work-out DVD, but in doing so, your brain shall be releasing vital endorphins throughout your body that will give you a feeling of euphoria, which is especially helpful in the winter months.

The great news is that although home fitness did once have a somewhat dim reputation, thanks to the introduction of the Wii Fit and other fitness games, getting fit has never been as fun and is even better when played with friends.

Another happy bonus of this is that once that you have got used to the exercise, your body will be able to tolerate the cold much easier thanks to improved circulation.
