This article looks at the author's recent conversion to the convenience of airport parking after years of grappling with public transport and stressful airport travel! The article focuses on the provision at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Why Drive To The Airport?
Of course, on the face of it, it seems such a stressful way to travel to the airport to catch a flight, but the reality is that having tried taxi runs over the years and although they are remarkably convenient, they tend to be quite expensive. As many people are on quite a tight budget at the moment they simply can not afford to enjoy a 'cheap' mini-break once the cost of a two-way taxi run is added on! The writer tried public transport instead, a bus and train combination and may have been unlucky, but it was a very stressful experience. The bus was very busy and didn't offer space for the luggage and the train was late resulting in a run through the airport to check-in at the last minute!
You could always decide to drive to the airport yourself, utilising the pre-booking facility at the Leeds Airport car parking, which is the official off-site car park service. Travel agents have already mentioned that this airport has topped the UK's Satisfaction Survey into British Car Parks for the past three years and suggest that by booking in advance you are able to secure the services you want. It is possible to download a map and put the location into your GPS to make the journey easier, but the location of the car park is very well signposted and very near to the airport itself.
Secure Parking For Peace Of Mind
You will be reassured to see the strong signs of security around the car park and the reception is clearly manned. There are also cameras and other deterrents, so you don't have to worry about leaving your car. As soon as you check in at reception the customer services assistant at the desk will organise the rest. The car park is approximately half a mile from the terminal building (Leeds Bradford is a wonderfully small airport, which makes it very quick to travel through!). There is a free courtesy bus to the airport with plenty of space to store luggage.
Following your trip, you just go to the collection point to board the courtesy bus back to the car park. The staffs here are much organised and if you provide your flight details when making the booking, they keep an eye on the arrivals times so it is not necessary to phone and let them know you are in, as is the case with some other services. This service also offers the benefit of providing car-parking around the clock and on every day of the year. There is a car servicing facility available, so your car could be serviced and MOT'd whilst you are away. There is a newsletter you can sign up for which will advise you of future news and offers.
