With 47/47 miles per gallon, the 2013 Ford Fusion is setting itself up to be a serious contender with other hybrids from Hyundai and Toyota through being one of the most fuel-economical hybrids in the world.

 

Ford Motor Co. said today the hybrid version of its 2013 Fusion midsize sedan received a fuel-economy rating from the Environmental Protection Agency of 47 miles per gallon in city driving and 47 mpg on the highway.

With those numbers Ford claims the title of best fuel economy in a midsize sedan, beating out rivals like the Toyota Camry hybrid (43 city/39 highway) and Hyundai Sonata hybrid (35/40). It still can’t beat the Prius, which some consumers think of as synonymous with the term “hybrid.” But it comes fairly close to that smaller car’s 51/48 rating. Read More
