Is Solar Car Technology as Practical as We Think it is?

Solar-powered cars are not commonly seen on the roads yet because there aren’t any developed models that are production-ready. People that are green-minded buy gas-electric hybrid cars. However, advantages that can be offered by solar-powered cars will potentially make it as attractive as other alternative transportations. Especially for personal use and clients who want ecologically- friendly cars. Therefore, researchers will continue working to develop reliable, and affordable solar-powered cars.

Cars that is solar-powered won't produce any emissions or burn fuel because they are equipped with electric motors. This is particularly important to people that want to use transportation that won’t contribute to any greenhouse gasses and air pollution into the environment. Therefore, car manufacturers and researchers strive to develop concept vehicles and prototypes of solar-powered cars.

Solar Selection – Power Attainment

The definition of this power is that it will be recharged through the sun, but for reasons that are practical, you should consider alternative options of charging abilities for emergencies. Arrays of photovoltaic will convert the sunlight into electricity that use 100s of astral cells to connect in different configurations, in order to produce power.

If it’s mounted horizontal, it will allow for collecting most of the sun’s rays during the day, as well as the fact that there won’t be so much wind resistance while driving. It can also integrate with the body of the car, or it can come as a separated canopy.

By way of mounting these modules with a slant, it will allow you to do only a small adjustment, to collect the sun’s rays as the car change direction. There might be a compromise with the mounting or the array design between the stability of the car while driving, cost, wind resistance, and collection of power.

Storage of the Power

With a typical car that is driven by solar, it needs a battery pack that can allow a four hundred km range if it’s charged fully, and with about a hundred km speed per hour continuously. They will generally use nickel-cadmium or lithium-ion batteries. The motors are normally two to three horsepower of about two kW and quite light.

The Structure of a Solar Car Body

The structure of the body needs to be fire-resistant and light. They will generally be produced with materials of light-weight such as glass fiber that is reinforced with a carbon fiber. Its shape will be streamlined to reduce wind resistance to integrate these modules, and also be given a light Tedlar overcoat.

Benefits of Solar Powered Cars

In this time where we face a harsh energy crisis, your green solution that is most reliable is solar energy from the sun. With fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas which are getting less, the search is on for alternative ways in order to generate stable energy.

The power of the sun is the best source for energy, and it will produce an endless flow of power energy. It could be used for heating of your appliances to powering your car.

Here are some of the benefits of a solar powered car.

Preserve the Natural Resources

Although some of the components and panels to manufacture solar-powered cars will initially use resources and energy, it won’t require any extra input of energy. Because they don’t consume any fuel or require changing of oil, the only dependence there is for petroleum-based products, will limit them to lubrication for plastic parts to replace and wheels.

Most of the components and the electrical motor of a solar car potentially are free of maintenance. They are exceptionally silent and running without any noise, which makes them excellent for noise pollution reduction.

The solar car will last easily for decades with very low maintenance to keep up, except for the common cleaning of your solar panels. The benefit that is highest in the ranks, is the fact that it’s so eco-friendly.

There Won’t be Any Cost for Fuel

There are many economic incentives for developing, producing and operating a solar car, because they don’t depend on sources of fuel, such as gas and diesel. They only depend on sunlight which is converted through the solar panels into electricity, and it’s freely available during the day to everyone. This means without their dependence on fuel it will be easier on the environment and your pocket.

The Comfort of Driving

The solar car’s electrical motors are small without any vibrations and noise, and because it’s also designed lighter, it will allow for faster stopping and turning. Engineers are still working on enhancing mileage and powered tops to provide enough power with or without any sunlight.

Because of all the benefits and advantages, you can be sure that the solar powered car will be a big feature in the upcoming years. However, today we still need the cars we know.
