From Mary Pickford to Mary Poppins, from silent screen to the talkies,
Movie Stars inspire a
modern new voice at Galliano.
Spring Summer 2012 unveils a new siren – a contemporary twist on signature Galliano with a collection that celebrates an era when women found their voice.
Feminine, luxurious, eccentric and individual the Galliano Gal is a unique mix of romantic, innovative nostalgia sprung from a house defined by its
craft, creativity, innovation and fantasy.
Black and white on screen and cut in organzas, georgette and tulle in reality: cream coats, black drape jackets, white lace inserts. Spring Summer plays with shape, technique, soft structuring as detailing includes re-embroidered linen jackets, gazar blazers, ecru blouses styled with Pickford star print pants and two-tone shoes – the Galliano Siren always dances to her own tune.
Soft feminine shapes, long playful pleats, and a confection of colours such as delicate pink cotton candy stripes, blush blues, eau de nils, chocolate and cream. The flirtatious side of Galliano uses fashion and feminine charm as her alibi and you catch a glimpse of this character through the draped georgette blouses, piqué jackets, carefree patchwork to floral embroideries. The soft chiffon Galliano rose adorns her favourite sequin frosted cocktail dresses: a modern mix of blacks and golds, silvers and whites.
“Adding sound to movies would be like putting lipstick on the Venus de Milo,”
remarked Mary Pickford
But a Galliano Girl always has her lipstick – just as Mary Poppins
always has her voice!
