This need of ours for traveling brought us to Kastoria the other day, one of the most beautiful towns of northwestern Greece. It’s a town well known to Greeks mostly because of its lake and the myths and stories attached to it. Lately, all and more foreign visitors discover its beauty in their seeking of virgin place to spend a few special days!

Kastoria is also well known for its fur industry. It’s the trade that the majority of its habitants make a living off. The fur industry is one extra reason that attracts visitors as they can find quality furs at affordable prices.

Additional reasons to visit Kastoria are the churches of the town, scattered all around, some of them very old and of architectural interest.

As for available activities, one won’t get bored at Kastoria. It is a must that you take the hike around the lake. I have to confess that we chose to do it ourselves using both our feet as well as our car at some places. Either way the view was stunning as the water plants surround the lake in most places along the way. If you love walking, do the entire 6 kilometers on foot and you won’t regret it!

 

Our stay at Kastoria was short but we got so many wonderful images and memories to recall. Kastoria is a destination of special identity of its very own, one you will never regret visiting or forget!
