Kick-Start Your Next Vacation With These Amazing Hotel Breakfasts

Wikimedia Commons

This just in: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We recently rounded up some interesting data, which shows 43% of hotels in America offer a free breakfast (the U.S. is the #1 country for offering complimentary morning meals!). There is a small catch, though: Most 2 and 3 star hotels include a free breakfast, but less than 10% of 5 star hotels provide the same perks.

We decided to round up some of the best and free breakfasts along with highlighting to-die-for morning meals, that while not all complementary, are completely worth the splurge!

Breakfasts On a Budget

Embassy Suites Austin-Arboretum

This chic hotel, just 20 minutes from the Austin airport in Texas, offers another amenity that nobody can pass up: free, cooked-to-order breakfast. (So long having to stick to over-medium eggs!) Guests can order any type of omelet they want, or choose bacon or sausage. Another plus: there are Keurig coffee brewers in every room, so there’s no need to leave the comfy beds to get a caffeine fix.

The Dunhill Hotel

Farm to table…at a hotel? And that’s free? Stop right there. All of the food at The Dunhill Hotel in Charlotte, NC, is sourced from farms within 100 miles from the hotel. Enjoy the complimentary, artisanal European breakfast items, or go bold with the bacon cheddar pancake topped with butter and maple syrup. There is a complementary coffee and tea bar open all day, too.

Element New York Times Square West

Anything that’s free and in New York City can’t be passed up. This eco-conscious hotel brand (owned by Starwood) means the complimentary breakfast skips the waffle makers and packaged muffins. Enjoy wraps straight from the grill (hello, turkey bacon!), fruit smoothies, and baked granola—with a side of gourmet coffee.

Worth the Splurge

Four Seasons St Louis

This hotel, situated between the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, offers a delicious breakfast spread with a view. Order the egg-white frittata with fresh mozzarella, basil, and fresh tomato sauce. For a sweet treat, try the Belgian waffle with pralines or crème brûlée French toast with blueberry compote. After indulging, guests can head out to the 12-mile bike trail—steps from the hotel.

The Modern Honolulu

Give the beautiful Hawaiian beaches a run for their money with this gorgeous hotel, complete with nightlife, spas and massages, and of course delicious dining options. The Modern Honolulu comes with an extensive breakfast menu, from homemade granola parfaits and egg-white scrambles, to local favorites like sweet bread French toast and banana-macadamia nut waffles. Enjoy a delicious cup of coffee from the Honolulu Coffee Company before trying one of the hotel’s free yoga classes.

Courtyard Marriott City Center

“Keep Portland Weird” with the awesome diner, The Original, situated in this Oregon hotel.

Take a walk back in time to the '50s with a modern spin,’ and order its breakfast burrito with slow-cooked pork chile verde, the cornmeal bacon waffle, or the crème brûlée French toast, made with local brioche (choose from three types of syrup!). After a rich breakfast, take a stroll to the Oregon Maritime Museum or Chinese Gardens, within walking distance from the hotel.

La Fonda on the Plaza

Check into Santa Fe’s oldest and most famous hotel, and then dive straight into the delicious Southwest cuisine to start the day. Some favorites for breakfast include huevos rancheros with black beans, pork, and their famous red or green chile. Come with an appetite and order The New Mexico burrito (eggs, chorizo, potatoes—check!) which are also served with green and red chiles. After getting a taste of the Southwest, step outside and walk to several historic landmarks, or stay put for a luxurious spa treatment right at the hotel.
