Living The Life of Luxury Playing Golf

With the summer of 2012 quickly approaching along with this years Golf Masters Tournament, there’s no better time to get yourself into golf. One of the most popular sports in the world, golf is quickly gaining a new, younger breed of fans in line with the modern wave of youthful professionals that are taking to the green. The advantages of taking up the sport are immense, not only does it help keep you fit and healthy but it is also a key social tool and can even benefit your working career as golf amongst work colleagues is a very popular pastime.

Of course, no one can stroll onto the golf course and become the next Tiger Woods straight away and this is why many golf courses offer professional training on a one-to-one level with experienced and certified instructors. Prices for instructors start at relatively cheap prices of around £25 for around an hour. Of course, the price of the course varies depending on what type of lesson you want. Starting from the basics of how to hold a golf club, you can even have your instructor guide you around the course, helping your game tactics and suggesting what strategies are best.

Once you’ve got to grips with the basics of golf and no longer need your instructor, golfing ranges are available at the majority of golf courses where you can practice your swing, often in an unlimited time period as golfing ranges usually charge by the amount of balls you use rather than by how long it takes you to use them. This means that you can work away in your own time, varying your strokes and clubs to your heart’s content.

The clubs themselves can be cheaper than you imagine. Golf equipment from Direct Golf for example, has full golf sets from around £100 and rising. This is a perfect price for anyone starting out in the sport and gives you the option of buying a dearer set later on in your golfing career. Which golf clubs you decide upon however, is totally up to you.

The vast majority of golf courses also have clothing etiquettes, such as jean and trainer policies. Although some may find these rules a little old fashioned, wearing the correct type of clothing shows to other golfers that you are a respectable player and considerate of the rules of golf. When most people think of golf clothes they imagine horrifically bright crimes of fashion; however, if you Google the latest pictures of Lee Westwood or Luke Donald, you will find that the latest fashion trends are quite amicable and in line with every day street wear.

Once that you are kitted out with the fashion trends of twenty first century golf and all of your equipment is in the boot of the car, it is time to start looking at golf club memberships. It might be an idea to look into the membership prices of where you originally trained in golf or where your friends and colleagues tend to play. With average membership fees of around £1000 per year, not everyone can afford these prices. Across the country there are many community golf courses where you can play by the amount of rounds that you play rather than having to subscribe to yearly fees.

Of course, it is important to remember that golf is a luxury and gentlemanly sport which main aim is to be enjoyed by all who come across it. Whether you start out to become the next Rory McIlory or just pass the time on a morning, enjoying golf can open up a world of exciting possibilities.
