If cruelty-free fashion is the industry's latest trend (and let's hope it is), then Jill Milan is ahead of the curve with a line of super indulgent handbags and more to come.

Founded by CEO Jill Fraser, a die-hard animal lover and vegan, Jill Milan is the solution Fraser made to her problem of being unable to find gorgeous, well-made bags that didn't harm animals. After teaming up with award winning LA based designer, Maya Stewart and the same Italian artisans that create beloved It-bags for some very exclusive brands, Jill Milan has gained popularity as being a rare breed of beauty and intelligence.

Using luxurious materials that substitute for super-soft Italian leather, Jill Milan promises faux leather that looks, feels and smells like just like the real thing—but without all the guilt. Currently, the line includes day bags, evening bags and makeup bags with plans for accessories including iPad cases and belts to be revealed soon.

I was lucky enough to receive the Venezia Gondola Clutch in a rich chocolate shade. The clutch is easy to carry and slightly larger than many evening bags, so it actually holds essentials without being at all bulky. Made from a smooth silk blend of viscose and silk (silk isn't considered vegan as the worms that spin the silk are killed), the clutch is sleek and elegant and features modern brass Italian hardware on the closure, which is also part of the appeal. Even better, a portion of the proceeds from the purchase of Jill Milan's signature Thoroughbred bag go to organizations that rescue and retrain former racehorses.

With such clever attention to detail, it's no wonder that despite being founded in 2010, Jill Milan has already become a favorite with celebrities including Teri Polo, Fiona Gubelmenn and Caity Lotz and featured on the always-stylish television show, Gossip Girl.
