Manual Transmission Slowing Sales of Dodge Darts

Having only sold 974 Dodge Darts in the first two months since its release, it seems that since Chrysler first only shipped models with manual transmission is starting to wear on the sales of the vehicle. However, I would assume that the slow sales are due to people waiting to get their hands on the Dart Aero, which gets 41 MPG.

 

Chrysler Group LLC’s most important new car launch of the year is getting off to a slow sales start, putting a kink in Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne’s turnaround plan built on stoking sales and market share gains.

The 2013 Dodge Dart, the auto maker’s first new compact car in seven years, is based on a vehicle developed by its majority owner, SpA. The Dart is an important first test of the CEO’s vision of combining the two companies into a single, global auto maker that applies Fiat technology to help Chrysler become a competitor in small and midsize cars.
