Michael Kors Falls into Gold with New Campaign

Michael Kors goes back to the glamorous golden age of old Hollywood to launch his Fall 2012 Collection. According to the designer, models Karmen Padaru and Simon Nessman were recruited to channel modern versions of Carole Lombard and Clark Gable. Fans of old black and white movies and their timelessness will most likely disagree with the statement by Kors and may even be offended by the reference. But Kors is no stranger to integrating old Hollywood on his runways and print ads. While his interpretation of Clark Gable misses the mark, the ads do not.

We can all agree on that the new campaign is simply gorgeous utilizing every aspect of true Hollywood luxury lifestyle: cars, clothes and romance -- all component of an old classic film. The print ads take place at a movie set, art imitating life, as the models seemingly spend time in between shots. The scenes scream luxury; the new campaign layout incorporates gold tones and glam throughout. Padaru and Nessman’s perfect golden tans make the new line stand out even more, as they flaunt white and crème fur and sweaters and similar looks in each ad. Other highlights include golden-brown sunglasses, handbags and a watch that all compliment the classic look of the new Kors line. These ads will keep the summer sizzle going into Fall.
