Palace on Wheels

The news that Palace on Wheels is sold out for November and taking the guest booking on waiting list comes as no surprise. Voted 4th Best Luxury Train in The World, Palace on Wheels is India’s most loved and popular tourist train. A joint venture of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways, this Indian luxury train embarks on a weeklong itinerary across royal destinations in Rajasthan.

Designed to recreate the romance of a bygone era, Palace on Wheels is designed to replicate the elegance and opulence of the personal carriages of erstwhile Maharajas. With tariff of the Palace on Wheels starting as low as $340, a week long journey to destinations which include Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ranthambore National Park, Agra and Bharatpur among other.Included in the Palace on Wheels journey is an array of World Heritage Sites, birding in Keoladeo National Park and Tiger safari in Ranthambore National Park. Guests on board the Palace on Wheels get to wake up at a new destination every day. Interiors of the train are characterized by modern amenities and include 2 restaurants, bars, lounge and spa among others. Each cabin also features an attached bathroom.

Palace on Wheels departs every Wednesday from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi and the journey lasts for 8 days. The peak season of this rail journey is from November to February and November’s booking is already sold out. Guests looking forward to a fascinating ride across vibrant Rajasthan and treasures of royal tradition of India should get their seat reserved till they last. And looking at the response of foreign visitors to get their place booked on board Palace on Wheels, it would be a surprise if any run of this luxury trains remain vacant for any of this season’s run.

@Abigail The Palace on Wheels train does stop at a number of tourist destinations in Rajasthan which include Jaipur, Udaipur, Keolade National Park, Ranthambore and Jodhpur to name a few. The attractions include sightseeing of Amber Fort, Mehrangarh, Ranthambore National Park, Taj Mahal and many more. BTW the train will not halt if you happen to see something out of the window and want to stop for a trip as the itinerary is pre-decided. i want to ride a palace on wheels! but what if i see something out the window that i want to stop at? does the train stop at tourist locales?
