Pushkar Fair: Where Camels Rule

When travelers go to Rajasthan, being a part of Pushkar Fair will be the main agenda. This is because a colorful state like Rajasthan has this tradition of conducting Camel fair every November. There are some competitions such as who has longest moustache, sometimes who is the right bride, and also bursting a mud pot. All these competitions are fun to watch or to take part. People enjoy being a part of rural life of Rajasthan during Pushkar Fair. In last few years, even cricket match is included between Pushkar club and fore sign tourists.

 

Many photographers, enthusiasts come all the way to watch this unique cricket match. More than 100,000 pilgrims make it to Pushkar every year according to statistics. And when people go to the Pushkar lake, on the banks they rest to enjoy the fair. While men transact in buying and selling camels, sheep, goats or cows, women enjoy going to stalls for shopping fabrics, jewelry, etc. The race between the Camels kicks off the great festival followed by folk or classical music and handicraft, textile exhibitions. Set on the hindu calender's most auspicious day, Karthik Poornima, also called Karthik Ekadashi, this is one of the most suitable days to dip in sacred water of Pushkar lake and be a part of the fair and bow down in the only Brahma temple.
