Riviera Maya's Turquoise Caribbean Waters Beckon to Luxurious Beach Lovers
By: Lauren   |    June 25, 2013   |   0 Comments (1) (0)

The Riviera Maya, also known as Mayan Riviera, is a favorite destination for upscale travelers hoping for a quick yet luxurious weekend getaway. Aside from its idyllic location, which makes it the perfect Caribbean beach destination, the popular 100-mile-long beach is also praised for its convenience.

Set on the fishtail-shaped tip of southern Mexico, Riviera Maya lies right along the Caribbean, putting it in close proximity to North America, hence making it more accessible to travelers coming from the United States. Although it is secluded enough to provide the perfect getaway, it is near enough to be easy to get to.

While it has plenty of unspoiled beach areas for luxury travelers to discover, the Riviera Maya is also well-connected to the urban destinations in Cancun. Those who are truly after some privacy can head to the many luxurious beach resorts located toward the end of the stretch, while those who want to stay close to the urban environment can book themselves into any of the luxury hotels and spas that begin to beckon just 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport.

Luxurious Experiences Abound

So what’s waiting for luxury travelers in Riviera Maya? Well, there’s the sweeping coastline, for one thing. Turquoise waters, powdery sand, and a line of rustling palm trees are ready to welcome weekend vacationers.

The Caribbean water is also a thing of legend among beach lovers. The beach is not too salty, and the temperature is perfect all year round. The beach in Riviera Maya is also perfect for swimming; with the barrier reef breaking the waves, the surf near the shore is quite gentle.

Snorkeling and diving activities are also abundant, thanks to the long beach and the water-filled caves in the area.

And of course, to complete the luxury getaway, luxurious and exquisite Mayan dishes await, ready to be savored. Luxurious hotel dining, coupled with treasured Mayan recipes and intense flavors, offer unforgettable taste trips for the foodie.

Riviera Maya’s Best Luxury Hotels and Resorts

· Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Resort, a deluxe all-inclusive resort in the southern region of Cancun with three sections of luxurious private suites decked with glittering art-glass chandeliers. Along the beach, the resort has quaint shaded palapas and daybeds. An enchanting spa experience also awaits with its hydrotherapy pools and jets.

· Fairmont Mayakoba, the first luxury hotel in Riviera Maya’s newest resort area. Just half an hour from the airport, the resort offers a luxury spa, a golf course, and multiple sparkling pools. It’s highly recommended for families.

· Maroma Resort and Spa, an intimate, landscaped, and elegant beachside resort that offers luxury and privacy, excellent food, and in-house spa and gym. The luxurious suites are spacious and offer sprawling beach views, which guests can enjoy while lounging in a private hammock. Beach villas with multiple terraces, an outdoor dining area, a dip pool, and even a treadmill also await luxury guests.

· Viceroy Riviera Maya Hotel, a small yet super-luxe beach resort with an eco theme. Offering 41 private villas that front the beach and are surrounded by beautiful foliage, Viceroy has plenty of perfect spots for lounging under the Mexican sun.

Getting Around

The most convenient way to get around while you’re in a luxury vacation in Riviera Maya is through car hire. This allows you to explore the whole area in your own pace and time.
