Saint Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco) in Venice, Italy

As the primary public square in Venice, Italy, Saint Mark’s Square is one of the few major urbanized areas in Europe where the sounds of cars and traffic are practically unheard and the sound of human voices laughter can be heard all around. Surrounded by high marble arches and the façade of the famous Saint Mark’s Basilica, and loomed over by the Campanile (the large tower attached to Saint Mark’s Church) Piazza San Marco is one of the most impressive places to visit in Venice as there is so much history spread throughout the site.

 

With so much to do and see around Saint Mark’s Square in Venice, there is no wonder that is has become one of the most visited locations in all of Italy. Also, if you do make your way to this amazing location, and as tempting as it may be, try not to feed the birds.
