San Diego: Surf by Day, Party by Night

San Diego is a city made for partying. There is so much going on here, and every year it attracts thousands of revelers who arrive with one thing in mind: Having a good time. It is also a hotspot for surfers, so what better way to enjoy San Diego than to surf by day and party by night? Here’s a quick guide to doing just that.

Surf’s Up

Without question, the best place for surfing in San Diego is Coronado. Located across San Diego Bay, ‘The Crown City’ is a Mecca for surfers who flock to its beach (named the fifth best in the USA by the Travel Channel) throughout the year.

Surfing is very much the order of the day here, and no matter what day of the year you hit the waves, you’ll find surfers here doing what they love best. Whether you are a complete novice or a diehard surfer, you’ll find some suitable surf here. Rent a board and find some gentle breaks to get started, or if you know what you’re doing then hit the big breaks and have fun. The waves are great at any time of the year, so it doesn’t matter when you plan your trip.

Time to Party

After a hard day surfing the waves, there is nothing for it but to hit the town. San Diego is the ideal destination for party animals and you will not have to look far to find your perfect bar or club.

With year-round beautiful weather and fantastic ocean views, it’s no surprise that rooftop bars are popular in San Diego. For some of the best check out:

•   Stingaree, one of the top nightclubs in the city that regularly brings in guest DJs.

•   Andaz San Diego, which boasts the biggest rooftop bar in San Diego as well as a pool.

•   Float at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, one of the most popular rooftop bars in the city with a pool, fire pits, and excellent views.

Little Italy is a great place to find a restaurant before you hit the clubs, so head to India Street and check out Trattoria Fantastica, Filippi’s Pizza Grotto, or Caffe Italia to get started. Then take a trip to the Gaslamp Quarter, the most historic area of the city. Visit on any night of the week and you will find it a hive of activity. Its historic buildings give it a unique atmosphere, and you will find theaters, restaurants serving international cuisine, rooftop bars, and diverse clubs, all lit up by gas lamps.

This area has the best nightclubs in San Diego, whether you are looking for jazz clubs, live music, flamenco, burlesque, or celebrity DJs. Check out FLUXX for one of the best clubs in town, as well as Stingaree with its three stories and fantastic rooftop bar.

La Jolla and Old Town are other excellent areas to explore. Just 15 minutes from downtown, La Jolla boasts top restaurants, designer boutiques, and ocean views, and Old Town has a huge selection of wine bars, speakeasies, and cocktail bars to discover.

Live It Up in San Diego

San Diego is the perfect city for living it up. With beautiful weather all year, excellent surfing, one of the best beaches in the country, and fantastic nightlife, it’s hard to beat. So book your trip and then surf all day and party all night in this fun and lively city.
