Shake Shack Chestnut Hill is a Great Stop for Families

Shake Shack

Last year, to much fanfare, Shake Shack opened its first Massachusetts location at The Street in Chestnut Hill. Since then, this burger and fries joint has become one of the most popular stops for families looking for a quick meal with the family.

Located on Route 9 at The Street (a shopping, entertainment and dining center), the Shake Shack concept features burgers, flat-top hot dogs, beer, wine, cheesy fries and frozen custard. The interior of the Chestnut Hill Shack is constructed with a variety of recycled and sustainable materials. (The interior walls are clad in reclaimed wood from an old paper mill at Mount Tom, Holyoke, MA, floor tiles are made from recycled content, tabletops are sourced from reclaimed bowling alley lanes, and wooden chairs and booths are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council).

We recently visited the popular restaurant for dinner. During the warmer months, be sure to grab a seat on their outdoor patio with a pitcher of ShackMeister beer. When you come here, get ready to roll up your sleeves and dig into a juicy burger. We started off with a delicious Smoke Shack cheeseburger topped with crisp applewood smoked bacon and chopped cherry peppers. The declared winning burger was the Shack Stack, a monstrous combination of a cheeseburger topped with a fried Portobello mushroom with gooey muenster and cheddar cheeses and fresh lettuce and tomato. Don’t miss the Shack-cago Dog, their unique take on a Chicago-style hot dog complete with cucumbers, onions, pickles, tomatoes, bright green relish, celery salt and mustard. Sure there are golden hand-cut fries here but why try those when you can try and order of cheese fries smothered in a combination of cheddar and American cheeses?

Unfortunately, we didn’t save room for dessert but they offer a full range of frozen custard treats, including shakes, cups, cones and concretes (filled with savory mix-ins like fudge, peanut butter or caramel sauces).

Shake Shack is located at 49 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, Mass. There is a second location in Harvard Square. For more information, including a list of all current Shake Shack locations, visit www.shakeshack.com.
