Spring/Summer Trend: Printed Dresses

Emma Cook Jungle Floral Print One Shoulder Sun Dress, £330 at A

ASOS

The spring/summer catwalks were an explosion of colour and print. Colours ranged from pretty pastel hues to eye popping neon shades. And with prints in paisley, floral and African to name just a few, there’s something to please every one of us. The best and most effortless way to buy into this trend is with printed dresses. Here’s a look at the different ways to nail the print trend…

Floral Print
There’s a print for everyone when it comes to floral this season. For us girly girls opt for ditzy floral printed tea dresses. Or for an edgier vibe, look to Mary Katrantzou for inspiration with her digital floral printed body con numbers. Popular on-trend dress shapes of the season are the skater style and the thigh skimming shift dress, but floral print will look great on anything! Just remember to keep accessories to a minimum and let the dress do the talking.

African Print
This ranged from the classic animal print to bold, African tribal print. Big cat spots were a favourite on the catwalks, and will take you through the seasons. For a fresh twist opt for over-sized spots in vibrant colours, as an alternative to the classic leopard print. Tribal prints work well in monochrome and red for a head turning look. Try tribal inspired jewellery with a plain dress, or mix your African print dress with chunky, gold accessories.

Paisley Print
This iconic print was given a modern twist for spring/summer, with many designers interpreting it in different ways. Channel Jil Sander and opt for paisley printed day dresses or be inspired by Emilio Pucci’s beautifully crafted, boho maxi dresses, in a range of hues, from pink and scarlet to turquoise and lime. Accessorise your paisley with subtle, complementary jewellery and keep it simple.

Which one will you go for… floral, African or paisley? Or maybe you’ve already got your eye on one of the other hot prints for next season?
