If you're looking for the perfect gift for the vino lover in your life (or just want to add to your own cellar), The Stags Leap District Winegrowers Appellation Collection is set to for release on October 15, 2011.
The Stags Leap District Winegrowers Association (SLDWA) celebrates the 15th annual release of its limited edition Appellation Collection with wines from 18 distinguished member wineries. The Appellation Collection is the only offering in the U.S. comprised entirely of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from a single appellation. The 2011 collection is comprised of Cabernet from 2007, said to be amongst the best vintages in years.
“The 2007 harvest will go down without a doubt as one of the great harvests of the decade for Stags Leap District. The concentration of the fruit is unquestionable.” says Elizabeth Vianna, Winemaker for Chimney Rock Winery and Vice President of SLDWA. “The wines of the 2007 vintage have been luscious and generous in aromatics and texture right from the start, so it will be a thrill to see how this beautiful vintage develops.”
The 2007 Appellation Collection includes one Cabernet Sauvignon from each of the following Stags Leap District Winegrowers' member wineries: Baldacci Family Vineyards, Chimney Rock Winery, Cliff Lede Vineyards, Clos Du Val, Hartwell Vineyards, Ilsley Vineyards, Lindstrom Wines, Malk Family Vineyards, Pine Ridge Vineyards, Regusci Winery, Robinson Family Vineyards,Shafer Vineyards, Silverado Vineyards, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Stags Leap Winery, Steltzner Vineyards, Taylor Family Vineyards and Terlato Family Vineyards.
I was privileged to enjoy six bottles from the choice collection including Stags Leap Wine Cellars 2007 Fay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the historic producers of Cabernet Sauvignon in the region. The smooth, fruitiness of the wine combined with aromatic spices and touches was full of flavor and free of a harsh finish.
The luxury wine collection features 18 bottles shipped in two boxes for $1,450.00, with a limited availability of 200 cases from October 15th through December 15th, 2011 and can be found at http://www.stagsleapdistrict.com/purchase_collection.php.The small release is filled with exquisitely produced Cabernet Sauvignons, with plenty to enjoy now and more to enjoy years down the road.
