I just met my new hairstylist last weekend and couldn’t be happier. She works at this stylish salon on Newbury Street known as JSD Group. Named after Jeffrey Dauksevich, a household name on the fashion scene here in Boston, JSD is the place to go for the hippest cuts and color design.
One of the first things you will notice as soon as you step foot inside the door of the second floor salon is just how immaculate this place is beaming off the wall of mirrors. The all-white space is offset by stylish stylists clad in black who hustle around each station cutting, coloring, primping and styling hair to a precise perfection.
My friendly stylist, Kara, quickly introduced herself and discussed color and style options based on the shape of my face and hair color. I told her I was looking to cover up some grays with a natural brown color and perhaps lighten up some pieces around my face.
She got started by painting on a cool medium brown color base to my graying roots. It was time to let the color absorb into my hair so she set me up with a glass of water and some magazines, which I altered to and from between checking my iPhone. Realizing that going to the salon should be a time to step back and relax, I decided to put my phone away and enjoyed reading one of the magazines.
Once the time was up for my base color, Kara decided to enhance my color service with Balayage where she hand painted lighter colors in a partial treatment to lighten up my locks. The result? A gorgeous sun-kissed look that complemented my face shape and skin tone.
The salon also specializes in dry cutting, razor cutting and classic precision cutting as well as keratin smoothing, deep conditioning and scalp conditioning massage.
