Unforgettable Fijian Night Spots

Going out for a night on the town in Fiji isn’t quite like doing the same in Sydney or Melbourne, though there are still quite a few decent establishments worth checking out. Most of your best options are going to be in Suva, though if you know where to look, you really can find a great night out almost anywhere in Fiji. The following are some of the best places in Fiji for an unforgettable night out.

O’Reillys (Suva)

This bar is a must visit for anyone in Fiji on holidays, as here you will find a good mix of tourists, locals and great music. Whether you are looking for a place for a huge night out, or even just for a couple of beers after dinner, this is sure to be one of your Fijian favourites. With the Bad Dog Café right next door, it’s easy to get a tasty meal before you start drinking, or even later in the evening to help soak up all that alcohol.

Traps (Suva)

One of Fiji’s longest running and most consistently ‘hip’ bars, Traps is essentially a mega bar made up of 5 smaller bars, 4 of which become nightclubs on Friday and Saturday nights. During the week, each of the 5 bars has their own style and atmosphere, and each attract their own type of crowd, ranging from businesspeople and socialites, to students and young workers. If you are in Suva for more than a couple of days, make a point of getting down to Traps.

Birdland (Suva)

Another mainstay of the Suva nightlife scene, Birdland is one of the few establishments that are open late, so by the end of the evening, pretty much everyone ends up here. The music is good and the atmosphere is decent, so if you are planning a big night out in Suva, make sure you know where Birdland is, as you will probably end up there by the end of the night.

O2’s (Suva)

For the younger crowd, O2’s is a great place to mix with local Fijian youth as well as tourists, with the music generally focussing on hip hop. Dancing is well and truly on the cards for a night out here, and don’t be surprised if you see some pretty talented young groovers busting out a new move or two.

The Golden Dragon (Suva)

This place is a classic Fijian nightspot and a favourite of the local university population. Known for its consistently good music and cheap drinks, the Golden Dragon is the opposite of pretentious, and is very, very chilled. For a place to get away from the other tourists at your luxury resort, and to just relax and have a couple of quiet beers, this is your spot.

Fijian nightlife will keep you on your toes every night of your holiday if you want it to, so if you like to party, be sure to bring lots of energy with you. Even if you aren’t into dancing and just want some good evening options, in Fiji you can do as much or as little as you want with your evening.
