At the time, the DeLorean was one of the most anticipated cars in history; however, due to cost-saving modification prior to release, the car failed quite miserably as we all saw. The car could have been a powerhouse if it had been built the way John DeLorean had imagined, but high production costs and delays that lasted years caused consumer interest to drop considerably. Eventually these problems led the company to bankruptcy, having only released 9000 vehicles in its brief history.
So, even with all of the car’s problems and underperformance, I believe it is still quite obvious as to why I would want one of these to drive around and park in my garage. For those that don’t know or remember, the DeLorean is best known as the time machine from the Back to the Future line of movies, which make any DeLorean on the road significantly more valuable than the car should be worth since the BttF movies are such a large part of American culture at this point.
Maybe I should just save my money and get a true high-performance vehicle.
