A number of Princess Di's most memorable dresses are going to be available for auction in the middle of March, giving a handful of people (you know, those with enough cash to actually purchase one) the opportunity to, quite literally, dress like a princess. PRINCESS CUT: Ten of Princess Diana’s best known dresses are set to be auctioned in London on March 19. The gowns were originally sold at a charity auction in June 1997 at the request of the Princess just months before her death.
Among the dresses by designers including Bruce Oldfield, Catherine Walker and Zandra Rhodes is the midnight blue velvet gown by Victor Edelstein that she wore to the State Dinner at the White House for a dinner given in honor of the Prince and Princess of Wales by President and First Lady Nancy Reagan in November 1985.
