Merritt Wever! Sure, some could argue the Nurse Jackie star didn’t even give a speech, but that’s exactly what we loved about it. While so many other celebs are quickly spouting off the names of every single person they know from a little piece of paper, this “speech” required no such list; it also featured no jokes, no drama, no tears and no annoying music cutting her off. What made it really shocking was seeing an actress so genuinely surprised and humbled by a win. And who could blame her considering the competition included Glee’s Jane Lynch, 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski and Modern Family’s Julie Bowen who won the category last year. Through all the arbitrary musical numbers and poignant remembrance segments, the five seconds Merritt spent on stage may have been the most refreshing part of the 65th Emmys. Congrats on your win and for keeping it real (and short)!
