Cult Wines: An Angel's Share A-list Luxury Wines: Angel's Share presents an opportunity that true wine connoisseurs should find irresistible or, perhaps, even too good to be true. However, like most unbelievable offers, the early birds get the wine while the rest of the flock flies home whining. This is an extraordinary chance to get on the A-list of the much-anticipated 2004 Sympa Wine Allocation of Napa Valley.
Cult or boutique wines debuted quite splashily in the 1990s. A combination of scarcity and palate-pleasing taste fueled the overwhelming demand for these Napa Valley Cabs. Recognized cult wines are widely sold through mailing lists and to upscale restaurants, such as Screaming Eagle, Arujo, and Harlan Estate. Demand for cult wines has been know to exceed yearly allocations by more than 2,000 percent. Since the successful release of the 2003 Sympa by winery owner Peter Story, the demand for the 2004 Sympa Wine is bubbling.
The CEO of Angel's Share, Mark Russo, conveyed, "All the true cult-wine allocation lists I know about are completely closed. Screaming Eagle makes 200 cases of wine a year, and their allocation list is 1,200 people. There are 32,000 more people on Screaming Eagle's waiting list. That's why the opening of this list is so very important."
There are 300 slots available on Angel's Share's A-list client allocation for the 2004 Sympa Wine Allocation. The first 100 to secure spots also will receive an invitation to an exclusive black-tie event to be held this fall in Napa. Chef Bryan Ogden of Bradley Ogden's, which is located in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, will cater the affair. Bradley Ogden's received the coveted James Beard Award for 2003's Top New Restaurant. Along with the serving of a full array of exquisite gastronomical delights and a wine-tasting session of the new 2005 and 2006 vintages, there also will be a charity auction.
