Luxury Dining: The Red Square at Mandalay Bay is for vodka aficionados, but they always welcome newbies to educate on the finesse of enjoying this famed Russian import. The quiet little bar at the valet entrance behind the hotel has an overwhelming martini selection.
If it's your first time out, try the piquant Springtime in Baku martini paired with the Portobello-mushroom appetizer. To die for. A statue of Lenin, beheaded as the original is in Russia, beckons patrons into the chilly bar. A key feature: The entire length of the bar is inlaid with a solid block of white ice, which was originally designed to keep your drinks chilled, but has become a tourist attraction for vodka connoisseurs. You can purchase a bottle of $250 vodka and sip it in the vodka locker, which is kept at 5 F/-15 C at all times. The $250 also buys you a chance to don a fur jacket and hat, which must be handed over at the end of your stay. The Red Square is open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. for food; Sunday to Thursday until 2 a.m. and weekends until 4 a.m.; Saturday the bar opens at 3 pm. Call 702-632-7407.
