Scotch Whisky and Spirits: The Compass Box Whisky Company is not a traditional whisky maker of its headquarters. The Scotland-based outfit, which was founded in 2000 by an American, has neither a storied past nor long-term roots. However, in its short tenure as a whisky bottler, the small-batch whisky specialist has received more than 60 awards for its blends and has been named Innovator of the Year by Whisky Magazine four times to date. The World Whiskies Awards named Compass Box’s grain whisky, Hedonism, the World’s Best Grain Whisky for two consecutive years. The WWA also cited another of CB’s line of whiskies, The Peat Monster, as the World’s Best Scotch Vatted Malt Whiskey.
The Compass Box Whisky Company takes the best of Scotland’s “boutique” whiskies and then shares its country’s finest with the world. The product line consists of Signature Range and Limited Range releases. The Peat Monster, Oak Cross, and Aayla are Signature Range releases, whereas the Peat Monster Reserve, Hedonism, and Lady Lucky, a one-off batch with a limited release of 754 bottles, are Limited Range releases.
Check out the Our World article in the All About Us section on CB’s Web site to learn how whisky fits into gastronomy. Did you know that certain blends of whisky are best used as digestives and that others are best as aperitifs? There is solid ingestible intelligence for gourmands of all levels found throughout the Web site. There are great ideas for mixed drinks too.
The Compass Box Whisky Company wants you to join its club. The Club is an invitation from the whisky maker to invite whisky aficionados to be among the first to savor the flavor of its Limited releases in advance to the small-batch-whisky releases being made available to the public. The membership is free and there is no obligation to buy when notified.
Think small and prosper mightily indeed! The small-batch whisky maker has worked earnestly to achieve its pedigree in such a short time frame. For more information, visit CompassBoxWhisky.com.
