While not officially synonymous with fine wine (at least not according to Merriam Webster), the name Morrell most certainly is front-of-mind when it comes to the world's best vino. From humble beginnings 54 years ago in a small shop on East 49th Street in New York, the Morrell Family has become well known among wine aficionados and novices alike. Three generations of Morrells have enjoyed the role of merchant vintner, with Peter Morrell at the helm today. His trademark being consumer education, Morrell inaugurated the Morrell Wine Institute in New York City in January 2002, where humble students can learn the gracious art of food and wine pairing.
Let's face it; most wines taste best when accompanying well-paired food. The wine experts at the Institute will impart their wisdom, so choosing the right wine for food, either at home or in a restaurant, will become second nature to participants in their program. Pick up a bottle of your favorite wine or one suggested by an experienced Morrell staff member at their Rockefeller Center store or, if you can't make it to New York, Morrells is happy to extend their inventory with online customers. Share a bottle or enjoy wine by the glass at the Morrell Wine Bar & Café or their new restaurant, Morrells, located at 900 Broadway (20th Street) in New York. For those who just can't get enough of great wine, Morrells has partnered with Forbes.com to form the Forbes Morrell Wine Club. See www.ForbesWineClub.com for more details. The Morrells company motto is "Taste You Can Trust," so bottoms up.
