 Luxury Fashion: There was no sister Paris to steal Nicky Hilton's spotlight on Sunday, September 9, when the 23-year-old showed her first collection at New York fashion week at the tents in Bryant Park, but her parents Kathy and Rick were front and center, along with pals Bijou Phillips and Brandon Davis, Jenna Jameson, Russell Simmons and Heatherette's Richie Rich and Traver Rains.
Nicholai by Nicky Hilton is her attempt designing something more serious and upscale, a progression of her contemporary sportswear line Chick and handbag line Samantha Thavasa, a top-seller in Japan.

Did she pull it off? In the current fashion climate, celebrity designers are just as quickly eaten alive by critics as the young unknowns - they just happen to have more money backing them to keep the momentum going despite that.
Hilton fared okay with youthful and pretty cocktail dresses of the variety favored by young socialites and the Nicky Hilton fans who aspire to appear like one - short, coquettish and easy. Nothing that will rock the boat at a party, of course, just simple frocks made for fitting in.
Hilton pushed a little further beyond that with shiny trench coats and shorts suits that looked like glossy oil slicked pavement.
Bandeau bikinis and summer dresses in tangerine and fuchsia rounded out her spring offerings.
