Fashion & Style: Christian Audigier's latest collection for Ed Hardy Spring 2009 was a star-studded event, true to the luxury brands image.
The Spring 2009 collection is a merging of two cultures, the tattoo subculture that is Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier's signature aesthetic and the culture it rebels against, the mainstream of plaids and stripes.
As Christian Audigier explains, "My namesake collection explores the rigidity of aristocratic society, and the need to rebel against it. I cannot imagine sitting quietly and properly in a stuffy manor having tea and crumpets without jumping on a table, turning up the volume and making some noise. My collection is the wild child of any aristocratic family."
Ed Hardy is one of the brands most favored by celebrities and his assortment of celebrity clients include Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, Mariah Carey, Mickey Rourke, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Usher, Marilyn Manson, Madonna, Shakira, Ciara, Heidi Klum, T.I. and Jaime Foxx.
Even the models for his swimwear line, of which he says, "I did the best collection ever of swimsuits this is why everyone is wearing them," were amongst the most popular in the modeling world. They included Vinci Alonso, Johnny Beyer, Donna Feldman, Michele Graglia, Joanna Krupa, Sean Poolman, Brandi Qui?ones and Cindy Taylor.
Although he has been in the fashion industry for 20 years, Christian Audigier always has something new to show to appeal to the young and young at heart celebrities that make up his primary client?le.
Since taking over the Ed Hardy label in 2004, Christian Audigier has expanded the label to have stores all over the world. His signature line for Ed Hardy incorporates his past as the "King of Denim" and his tattoo-art inspired present.
