Fashion & Style: Not long ago, Francesca Giobbi's name was synonymous with fashionista shoes. Having worked with European brands such as Gucci, Versace and Sergio Rossi, Giobbi's footwear balanced the sensuality of her native Brazil with a fresh approach to shape and material. Her opulent, chunky heels could be recognized from a distance, easily identifiable by their refined craftsmanship and the eccentric chic mix of textures. Although the great handcrafted work and edgy design has long captivated a loyal audience, this season Giobbi will widen her audience with a new brand under the name Isla Castilla.
Aware of the current recessionista concept, the designer created a range of shoes that are less expensive and a bit more commercially driven. "The luxury market is in crisis throughout the world. Today women think twice before spending their money. The decision to make more affordable shoes meets the Brazilian reality," explains Giobbi.
Featuring imported satins and faux crocodile, as well as sting ray, python and lizard skins, the winter collection is inspired in Giobbi's muse, Carla Bruni. "She doesn't go unnoticed, even wearing black pumps," declares the designer. Particular attention goes to oxford-style pumps in contrasting linings, cute leopard flats with large bows and great high heel sandals with large ankle straps that will given any woman a sense of what it's like to be in Bruni's shoes-even during these hard times.
