Australian bag designer Rachelle Dendle has done just that, taking accessories brand Mimco to new levels. Her eye for detail saw the retailer branch out into antique inspired hair pieces, silk bags that fold into wallets and soft leather carriers that only get better with age.Now, the London-based designer has combined a love of all things ethical and beautiful to create her own label, After the Apple.
With early influences stemming from the saddle wear of Thierry Hermes and the woven leather of Bottega Veneta, Rachelle has produced 12 generic, indispensable bag shapes that will evolve and improve over the course of each collection. Each bag comes with more than one strap, features a dog leash for keys, a dustbag for the laundry and a detachable shopping tote that folds into a pouch. Yes, these are bags that will help you sort your life out.
With names like The Everyday Bag, The Duffle, The Backpack and The Reversible, the label is also modestly chic in its philosophy. The first collection, FIN, was launched last month and is based on the vibrancy of living creatures under the sea. Just as nature intended, After the Apple bags have "function for every component, a purpose for every element." These accessories will change your life for the better.
