Plus-sized women’s fashion is making small strides, but today it just took a big leap. International retail giant Mango will be launching their new spinoff label Violeta, which will be solely dedicated to women’s larger sizes. The new line which will launch January 15, 2014, will range from European sizes 40 through 52 (roughly a U.S. 8 through 20) and will first be available online in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Russian and Spain before opening its own stores dedicated to the new brand. While the sizes are not as broad of a spectrum as we normally see in plus-sized lines, Mango is dedicating itself to dressing all of their consumers and is employing a team of 40 design experts to create Violeta. No more empire waists and potato sack dresses, ladies.

The face (or so far, curvaceous bottom) of the new line is one of our favorites, supermodel Robin Lawley, who is herself a 6’2” size 12 beauty. Lawley joins previous Mango girls Miranda Kerr, Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Diane Kruger and Claudia Schiffer as a face of the brand. Modeling the collection with the motto “It suits me and I like it,” seems perfect for the confident Lawley. The line will be a 400-piece collection designed to feel “comfortable, feminine, and modern”—much more than we can say for most current plus-sized lines. No word yet on when Violeta will be available stateside, but we can only hope it’s just a matter of time.
