With fall looming around the corner our thoughts are begrudgingly turning to fall and all the transitional wear that we’re about to sport. Layering sweaters over sundresses or skirts with boots is the least of our concerns as this weird, in-between season can sometimes call for its own wardrobe. Enter Judith & Charles. One look at their fall collection and you’ll basically be smitten with their light coats, snuggly sweaters and leather minis—you might even find yourself welcoming the cooler weather. Using luxury fabrics from around the world and a design structure that would make most fashion bloggers swoon, Judith & Charles are creating a collection made for “it girls.”

Judith & Charles

Created by Judith Richardson and Charles Le Pierrès, the team behind Canadian brand Teenflo, Judith & Charles comes across as a more urban, updated line, influenced by the fashion lovers and style icons on the streets. After successfully creating their first brand over 20 years in Canada and overseas, Judith & Charles was founded in 2008 as a way of rebranding for a new audience. Expanding into the U.S. they now have two brick and mortar stores in New York as well as 10 across Canada with plans to add another location in the New York City financial district by spring 2015. Their global market also grew this year with franchises in both China and Qatar.

To keep up-to-date with modern women, Judith & Charles is using premium fabrics from both Italy and Japan and highlighting these rich textiles through simplistic silhouettes and cuts. The latest collection, inspired by urban architecture, sees a minimal color palette and a full array of textures including tonal jacquard, bonded jersey and cloqué. Luxury fabrics are also used such as alpaca and pony hair as well as basics like cashmere, silk and leather. The lines of the collection are meant to represent lines of buildings; sharp angles and geometric shapes replicate the city skyline through silhouette.

With trends the brand is fairly minimal, which is something we can seriously get behind. In an industry where Birkenstocks can go from fashion faux pas to must-haves with just an Instagram shot, it’s nice to have a collection that’s stylish and not a slave to each passing trend. The fall collection is perfect for work or play and if you’ve got a fashion blog of your own, it might be worth posting a couple snaps of these soon-to-be favorites before everyone else gets their hands on them. Personally we’re pretty sure we just found one of our new favorite brands.

Judith & Charles is available in-stores and online. Priced from CAD $225-$795 (approx. $206-$729 USD).
