Most people either love or hate Julia Roberts—there doesn’t seem to be an in between. Maybe her smile is too bright or her laugh is too adorable, but designer Riccardo Tisci’s latest casting is showing the redhead a lot of love. In a surprising move, the designer tapped the 47-year-old actress for the Givenchy Spring 2015 campaign. After a few years of laying low—but still starring in award winning movies like August: Osage County—the actress is stepping back into the limelight in most unfamiliar of ways. Posing for the French fashion house in menswear inspired pieces without her megawatt smile, Roberts has a high fashion look that we wouldn’t have expected from America’s sweetheart. “I decided to make her more intellectual, more serious, more pure,” Tisci told WWD. “It’s a different, fresh, new way to see Julia—really cool and urban, I think.”
Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Katy England, the black and white images are a new, low-key way to see the A-list star that gives her the same open and honest look that we first fell in love with all those years ago. And it seems Roberts is taking her new found fashion muse status in stride. “My sister and I were actually just on the phone, and we were laughing so hard,” she told Yahoo Style. “She goes, 'How are you suddenly turned into a supermodel? You’re almost 50.' It’s funny."
