Most fashion campaigns are gorgeous, but are severely lacking in substance, which is probably why we love the new ads from Lanvin. Their latest Spring/Summer 15 campaign plays off their iconic mother-daughter logo with the casting of three modeling legends, Violetta Sanchez, Kirsten Owen and Pat Cleveland, and their real-life daughters, Luz Godin, Billie Rose Owen and Anna Cleveland. “I like that the campaign doesn’t only have images, it has a story,” Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz told WWD. “Every time we do a family shoot, it feels like we’re going to their place: We feel like visitors.”
While the French house is often inspired by these familial motifs and never shies away from casting unexpected models (the Fall 2014 campaign starred Edie Campbell’s entire family, including her grandparents and pet horse), the mother daughter twinning that goes on in these images makes for one of their most compelling campaigns. With matching hair, accessories, makeup and outfits, it’s almost impossible to tell them apart. Can you spot which is the mother and which is the daughter?
Set to be released sometime in March, the print ads will also premiere with an accompanying video, scheduled to hit the Lanvin website sometime in mid-February. The campaign was lensed by British photographer Tim Walker, with creative direction by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Stephen Wolstenholme of House + Holm, styled by Jacob K, with hair by Julien d’Ys, makeup by Val Garland and set design by Emma Roach.
