In case you haven’t your heard black magic is in—or at least that’s the look luxury brand Ellery is going for in the 2016 Resort collection. Anita Pallenberg is the muse de jour, a woman most famously known as a model, actress and love interest of two Rolling Stones members—although instead Ellery focuses on Pallenberg’s fascination with black magic. This is the ‘70s, but with a witchy touch.

Silhouettes are reminiscent of the time period—flares, ruffles, dropped lengths—but Ellery reinterpreted the flare with a dramatic hem, cropped just above the ankle in an array of unconventional fabrics. Ruffled shirts are full of bold, attention-grabbing volume and even make their way onto structured jackets, creating long billowing sleeves that trail to the knee. Two caramel colored fuzzy, oversized jackets are some of our favorite pieces and complement the diversity of this unexpected collection.

Dripping with fabrics that convey mysticism (well, as much as any textile can), the collection heavily favors rich silks and velvet. Corrugated appliqués and sheer chiffon contribute to the luxuriousness of the series, but the oversized garments make the finished look free and nonchalant—if not a little moody. The collection perfectly combines the current ‘70s trend with Pallenberg’s Gothic, romantic personality to create a collection that is unique, provocative and (dare we say it?) magical.
